  • This week a Royal Mail Shop has opened at a Gridserve fully electric vehicle charging forecourt in Stevenage
  • Customers can now collect, send and return parcels while charging their EVs and running everyday errands
  • This location is part of a wider plan by Collect+ to bring convenient Royal Mail services to high streets, forecourts and EV hubs across the UK

Collect+ has announced the opening of a Royal Mail Shop at Girdserve Stevenage Electric Forecourt, meaning customers can collect, send and return parcels whilst they charge their electric vehicles.

The charging facility is ideally situated just off the A1, making it easily accessible for both residents and those travelling through the area.

The location offers more than 25 charging bays available 24/7, with the on-site building open daily from 7am to 9pm. Visitors can also make use of facilities including Costa Coffee and the Little Fresh Good to Go convenience store, providing refreshments and everyday essentials while vehicles charge.

The opening of a physical Royal Mail Shop at an EV forecourt is the first of a kind in the UK, and is part of a wider partnership between Collect+ and Royal Mail’s parent company, International Distribution Services, announced last year.

“Bringing parcel services closer to people was at the heart of this partnership with Royal Mail," said Sam Holden, Managing Director of Parcels and Ecommerce at PayPoint. "As more people switch to electric vehicles, they’re looking for convenient places to charge while getting on with their day. “This first-of-its-kind store in Stevenage makes that possible for local residents and is just the start of a wider plan to make dropping off, collecting and returning parcels easier for drivers across the country.”
