Roberts bakery enters snacking sector with new range

Roberts bakery has entered the snacking category with the launch of a six-strong breakfast-inspired range.

The ready-to-eat healthy snacks are made by mixing real fruit pieces and flavours – raspberry, apple, cranberry, orange – with other ingredients such as chia seeds, coconut, raisins, cinnamon, chocolate and coffee.

The brand has repurposed the range, originally designed pre-Covid for the on-the-go breakfast food sector, for those consumers who want to feel the benefits of healthy energy at home.

Each product in the range contains less than 250 calories and comes individually wrapped in compostable packaging.

Alison Ordonez, innovation director at Roberts bakery, said: “Five months ago, when we were preparing to launch this range, we were targeting an OTG consumer in a market set to top £23 billion by the end of 2022. Since the outbreak of the pandemic – thanks to the agility of our brand and operations – we’ve quickly adapted to take advantage of new opportunities.

“As we ease out of lockdown, there is certainly an increased demand for better-for-you snacks that still offer escapism without conflicting with health goals. We know that most shoppers are now trying to eat and drink healthier. This new range meets their needs perfectly – being healthy nutrient-rich snacks that taste great too.”

The range will be available from 7 September in convenience stores – including Spar and McColl’s – and from doorstep milk delivery services Mortons Dairies and The Modern Milkman Dairy. Each individual product has an RRSP of £1.25.

From 10 September, multipacks of the six new snacks will be available to order from Roberts’ recently launched e-shop from £7.50.

The range includes Porridge Loaf, Pangel (a fusion of pancake and a bagel) and Brookie (a breakfast treat fusion between brioche and cookie), each in two flavour variants.
