Legacy instant coffee brand Red Mountain is making a return to UK shelves after Supreme PLC signed a licensing agreement with food manufacturer Asvina to manufacture and distribute the range.
The brand was acquired by Supreme as part of its purchase of Typhoo Tea in December 2024, and the new deal marks Supreme’s first-ever licensing agreement. The move forms part of the group’s strategy to diversify beyond manufacturing and distribution by expanding its services portfolio.
Under the agreement, Supreme and Asvina will work together to re-establish Red Mountain Coffee as a household name, targeting the wholesale, independent convenience and hospitality channels.
The relaunched range will include freeze-dried instant coffee, coffee whitener and coffee sachets, with products available in both price-marked and non-price-marked packs. The brand is being positioned at “market-leading prices” to support strong margins for retailers.
Asvina, which supplies licensed, private-label and own-brand food products across all UK market channels, said its focus on consistency and quality made it a strong fit for reviving the Red Mountain brand.
Red Mountain is best known for its long-running tagline “ground coffee taste without the grind” and high-profile marketing campaigns featuring actor Ross Kemp. The freeze-dried coffee was last reformulated and given a packaging refresh in 2009 under Typhoo’s ownership.
The range is already listed with value retailer Farmfoods and a number of UK wholesalers. It is also available to order now via Asvina and Supreme Imports.
