Post Office has extended its remuneration support for postmasters to the month of June.
Postmasters, including those who operate multiple branches, will receive 15 percent top-up of variable remuneration in June generated from May’s trading, the Post Office today (7 May) announced.
Post Office previously guaranteed 100 percent of the remuneration in April and 90 percent in May for all independent postmasters. The guarantee covered both fixed and variable remuneration.
All branches that are currently receiving fixed remuneration will continue to do so in June, the Post Office added.
“Being able to guarantee April and May’s remuneration has been vital in providing stability for our postmasters. The support on offer for June allows postmasters to plan ahead,” said Nick Read, Post Office chief executive.
“No Postmaster should feel like they are unable to keep trading or re-open their branch as a result of coronavirus which is why we will provide targeted support for these branches.”
Post Office has also announced a hardship payment scheme to provide immediate relief for struggling branches that are not eligible for coronavirus financial support from the UK Government.
