Armed police swooped on a convenience store in Teesside earlier this week following reports of a gunman in the area, stated recent reports.
According to local reports, Cleveland Police were called to the Stockton Road area of Hartlepool on Thursday night following reports of a man seen in the area in possession of a gun. They also had reports that an air rifle and hockey stick had been stolen earlier in the day.
Reports quoted witnesses who claimed seeing the events unfold at the 11 O’Clock Shop in Stockton Street in Teesside. One of the witnesses said they had spotted a man shortly beforehand with blood dripping from a leg wound, reports said.
“Police attended a convenience store on Stockton Road just after 8.45pm last night (Thursday) following a report a man had been seen in possession of a firearm,” reports quoted spokesperson for Cleveland Police as saying.
“Units attended and two men were arrested nearby on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place and on suspicion of burglary (police had earlier received a report of an air rifle and a hockey stick being stolen in a house burglary).”
