West Yorkshire Police is appealing for information following incidents at two convenience stores in the Lidgett Lane area of Leeds on Tuesday (19).

According to the police, the first incident happened at around 8pm when a male, reportedly armed with a handgun, entered the Premier store on Lidgett Lane, Leeds, and demanded cash from the till. He left the store with a member of the public’s car keys and made off from the scene in their white Audi A1.

A short time later, a further incident occurred at the One Stop store on Chandos Gardens, Leeds. A male of a similar description demanded money from the till. A struggle took place with a member of staff and the suspect assaulted them before leaving empty-handed. The staff member received treatment from paramedics for a head injury.

The police described the suspect as a black male, aged between 35 to 40-years-old, around 5ft 6-7ins tall, of skinny build. He was wearing a black face mask, black clothing and a blue baseball cap.

Detective Inspector Mark Tester, of Leeds District CID, said: “These offences have occurred within minutes of each other. We are keen to speak to anyone who has witnessed any part of these incidents or has potentially seen the stolen vehicle following these offences.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District CID by using 101 Live Chat online or by calling 101, quoting crime reference 13220393783.
