French beverage company Pernod Ricard has joined hands with Mexican spirits producer Casa Lumbre to invest in Abasolo Ancestral Corn Whisky.
The collaboration follows Pernod Ricard’s other agreement with premium spirit maker Casa Lumbre-owned mezcal brand, Ojo de Tigre.
Another Pernod Ricard’s latest partnership includes Nixta Licor de Elote, a corn liqueur brand. Casa Lumbre is said to continue to operate both Nixta Licor de Elote and Abasolo Ancestral, also made from corn.
Pernod Ricard’s portfolio already includes three premium tequilas- Olmeca, Altos and Avion, as well as the Del Maguey mezcal – all of which are gathered into a dedicated structure: “House of Tequila”.
Michael Merolli, CEO of House of Tequila at Pernod Ricard, added: “We believe in Abasolo’s ability to build the world whisky category by recognising more varied tastes”.
“With its distinctive flavour profile, ancient process and Mexican provenance, Abasolo offers something unique that I’m delighted to bring to new consumers.”
Welcoming the move, Casa Lumbre CEO and co-founder, Moises Guindi said, “We are thrilled to have partnered with Pernod Ricard to take us to the next level and beyond.”
