Not many Brits consider healthiness of a product as a deciding factor while out on grocery shopping, a recent has stated.
According to a research commissioned by Flora, 26 per cent of Brits consider healthiness as the most important factor when purchasing food.
Only half (53 per cent) of Brits think about their heart health on a weekly basis, despite two-thirds (64 per cent) of those surveyed having previously been affected by, or had someone they know affected, by heart problems.
Half of Brits (47 per cent) consume butter at least once a day – a product that is high in saturated and trans fats and known to increase cholesterol. Nearly a fifth (23 per cent) say they will only think about their heart health often when they are older or have a health issue.
Chocolate, a roast dinner, and pizza are Brits’ top 3 favourite foods.
Ebbonnie Platt, Flora’s global nutrition manager, says: “This Healthy Eating Week, we want people to think more about eating well for their heart. As our research shows, we don’t consider our heart health often enough when making food choices, despite our heart being our number one health concern.
