Niza Group, a multisite operator based in the South East, has acquired Robinson and Young Service Station, a family-run store in Shropshire.
Located in Wem, north of Shrewsbury, the business has been owned by Ben Young and his family for over 30 years, with the father-and-son team growing the business into an extensive local amenity that included a well-stocked petrol station, vehicle sales business and workshops.
Ben decided to sell the business so that the family could concentrate on vehicle sales, which they have relocated to another facility in Wem.
“Having owned and operated the business for over 30 years, we felt the time was right to approach Christie & Co to sell, so we could concentrate on the used vehicle sales at a new location in Wem.
“It was a tough decision, as we have really enjoyed serving the customers during our time here and will continue to serve them elsewhere in the town,” Ben Young commented.
“We wish Niza Group all the best with their latest acquisition and would like to thank Christie & Co for their help to get the deal done.”
Niza currently trades under the Nisa and Welcome Co-op shop banner, with Texaco fuel supply, and the latest acquisition takes their network to 13 petrol filling stations.
“We would like to thank Ben and his team for working with us to get the sale over the line. Ben has built a fantastic business that we want to move even further forward once we have settled in and have plans to develop the site further,” Ragu of Niza Group commented.
Dave Morris, regional director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale process, added: “The business is very well-known in the town, and is a credit to Ben and his family who have worked hard to offer the best service to customers. The site is an excellent addition to Niza Group and has helped them to further expand their portfolio across the Midlands. Petrol stations remain popular with buyers across the country looking to expand their portfolios.”
