The Federation of Independent Retailers (NFRN) said it has disbursed nearly £125,000 to a total of 101 independent retailers from its COVID-19 Hardship Fund.
The fund, launched in April last year, offers financial assistance in the form of a grant to NFRN members – up to a maximum of £2,000 – suffering cash flow and other financial challenges.
“While some members have seen a dramatic increase in their sales and profits during the coronavirus pandemic, others have had their footfall completely decimated due to their location or personal circumstances,” Stuart Reddish, NFRN, national president, said.
“I would like to thank our districts, branches and retail partners for their generous donations, which have enabled us to help 101 members and pay out £124,650 so far.”
Retailers struggling as a result of pandemic restrictions can apply for a grant through the NFRN’s website.
Raised through donations from NFRN’s districts, branches and from individual members, as well as from suppliers and publishers, the fund has reached a total of £241,621 as of November 2020.
