Morrisons on Thursday said Victoria Lockie has joined the supermarket group as its new head of wholesale - strategic projects and acquisitions.

Lockie has over three decades of convenience retail experience in the independent sector, most recently at Unitas, where she held the position of retail director for the wholesale buying group, and prior to that was head of retail and MADL board trustee at Nisa Retail.

“With a strong background in wholesale and independent retail, Victoria is known for developing and growing independent businesses across both the UK & Ireland, as well as being the voice of the retailer at the decision making level of the business,” Morrisons said.

Speaking of her new position, Lockie said: “I have joined Morrisons at such an exciting time in an ever-changing, highly competitive marketplace, and I truly believe that Morrisons has a significant opportunity to grow using its strong proposition, excellent own label and forward thinking approach to store format within which value, margin and customer care are at the forefront.

“In my role I am accountable for delivering growth in store numbers, bringing new customers into the Morrisons Daily family, and enabling your aspirations for new sites.”

Morrisons Daily currently has over 1,600 convenience stores across the UK and the Channel Islands, including over 600 franchise stores.
