Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone recalls cider bottles over explosion risk

Hawkstone, owned by TV presenter and farmer Jeremy Clarkson, has issued a recall for its Hawkstone Cider following reports that bottles have exploded as a result of over fermentation.

The recall of a small batch of bottles with the batch code L3160 is on a precautionary basis, the brand added.

A point of sale notice will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product, explaining customers what to do if they have bought the product.

Customers are being urged to dispose of the bottle immediately underwater wearing thick gloves and protective eye wear. They can bring bottlecap in along with the receipt at the store or email a picture of the bottle to [email protected] for a refund.

Launched in 2021, Hawkstone lager and cider use ingredients grown at Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. It is brewed by Cotswold Brewing Co. and distributed by specialist drinks wholesaler Craft Drink Co.
