A multi-agency operation has resulted in the seizure of illegal tobacco and vapes across St Neots, Cambridgeshire Constabulary stated.
Last week (16 September), Huntingdonshire Licensing officers worked alongside Cambridgeshire Police, Trading Standards and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to carry out inspections at premises in St Neots.
The operation led to the seizure of 15,420 illegal cigarettes, 5.65kg of hand-rolling tobacco and 37 illegal vaping products from three locations.
The action forms part of ongoing work across the county to target the sale and supply of illicit tobacco and nicotine products.
Residents are encouraged to report any information or suspicions about the sale of illegal tobacco or vaping products. Reports can be made anonymously online, which also provides guidance on how to identify illicit products.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Rob Streater said: “Protecting our communities is at the heart of everything we do, and the sale of illegal cigarettes, vapes and tobacco not only damages people’s health but also supports wider criminal networks.
“Working alongside our partners is a vital part of the everyday work carried out by our neighbourhood teams in response to issues raised by the public.”
