US compliance infrastructure company IKE Tech has launched a new platform designed to provide continuous compliance for regulated products, initially targeting the global nicotine market.
The Los Angeles-based company said IKE 2.0 is designed to extend compliance controls beyond the point of sale, covering the journey from manufacture and import through retail sale and product use.
The platform brings together four layers: person, product, policy and intelligence.
The Person Layer verifies the identity of the person using a product and converts the verified identity into a token designed to protect personal information during subsequent interactions.
The Product Layer is intended to authenticate and trace products from manufacture through point of use, either through direct device integration or NFC Smart Tags.
Meanwhile, the Policy Layer applies configurable access and compliance requirements based on factors such as jurisdiction, product and SKU, while the Intelligence Layer uses telemetry and analytics for anomaly detection, governance and compliance reviews.
Thomas Chen, founding member and head of technology and IP at IKE Tech, said compliance systems often lose visibility once a regulated product leaves the retail environment.
“Compliance cannot stop at the cash register,” he said. “IKE 2.0 is built to carry identity verification, product authentication and configurable policy controls through the product and access life cycle.”
Focus on nicotine
IKE Tech said the post-sale compliance gap is particularly relevant to the nicotine sector, where products can be diverted through unauthorised channels, counterfeited or accessed by people who are not eligible to use them.
The company said its platform aims to connect a verified user, an authenticated product and the applicable regulatory requirements at the point of use.
“IKE 2.0 gives manufacturers real-time supply chain intelligence, anti-counterfeit protections and compliance reporting that can be demonstrated to regulators and partners across markets, without building for each one,” Jason Carignan, founding member and board director at IKE Tech, said.
IKE 2.0 is available through a web platform for manufacturers and brand operators, alongside a brand-configurable consumer application, both operating on the same infrastructure.
The company said the platform is protected by 11 issued patents, with additional applications pending.
IKE Tech said privacy is built into the platform, with identity information tokenised after verification so that raw personal data does not need to be passed through subsequent interactions. Biometric processing takes place on-device, while the platform is SOC 2 Type II certified and designed for GDPR and CCPA compliance.
Age verification technology
The launch builds on IKE Tech's existing work in the regulated nicotine sector. The company filed what it describes as the first standalone component premarket tobacco product application (PMTA) in the US for interoperable age-verification technology in April 2025.
The US Food and Drug Administration accepted the application for review in 2025, with the review still ongoing, according to IKE Tech.
The company also cited a controlled Human Factors Study involving 102 participants, in which its system prevented underage device activation in every attempted case. It reported a 91 per cent adult ease-of-use rating and a user error rate below 1 per cent.
IKE Tech noted that the study has not been peer-reviewed and that controlled study findings may not produce identical results in real-world use.
While nicotine is its initial market, IKE Tech said IKE 2.0 is intended to be used across other regulated categories, including cannabis, healthcare and medical products, gaming and adult-restricted products and services, subject to applicable regulations.
