How To Properly Package Food and Beverage Products

If your business operates within the food and beverage industry, then product packaging is very important. The companies in this industry that don’t take product packaging seriously don’t last very long, because proper packaging is the cornerstone of a good food and beverage product.

Whether you are new to the industry or have been in it for a while, if your product packaging isn’t up to scratch, then it’s time for you to change that. This post will explore how you can properly and efficiently package your business’s food and beverage products:

    X-Ray Inspection

If you don’t already have an x-ray system, then you need to invest in one for your product’s sake. An x-ray system will make sure that no foreign objects will go undetected. It’s important to invest in one that’s made from quality materials and is being offered by a reliable vendor, like XR x-ray inspection systems, whose manufacturers state that it can’t be beaten. Before investing in any kind of x-ray system, it’s a good idea to first read its reviews and if possible speak to current and previous users. If you know any other business owners in your sector, then you could ask them for a recommendation (regarding an x-ray system) also.

    Employee Hygiene

When your product’s packages are being prepared for packaging, they need to be handled hygienically by your employees. If there are any hygiene issues in the product packaging process, then the product’s end users could end up developing foodborne illnesses. If they do develop food poisoning because of your employee’s negligence or poor hygiene, then your company could be sued or taken to court. At the very least, poor employee hygiene will result in your company developing a bad reputation among consumers, which isn’t good for business.

    Product Handling

Products also need to be handled properly, in addition to being prepared hygienically. If your business’s products aren’t handled properly, then they could become damaged. If you are sealing products up in boxes, improper handling could result in them bursting, which could lead to you losing money. The best way to train your staff in product handling is to sign up for an online course, which you can then stream to your staff. You should also hire somebody to come in and show them how to handle products properly in person. Proper product handling will also prevent them from developing strains or injuries.

    Labelling Products

You need to make sure that your products are labelled properly. If you do not tell customers what ingredients are in a product and they then have an allergic reaction, then you could get into a lot of trouble. In addition to telling customers what ingredients are inside your products, you also need to include information about how much sugar, fat, and salt is present. Displaying this information to customers will help them to decide whether or not your product’s worth buying and if it is bad for their health. If you do not include this information, then you could be harming your customer’s health by not telling them the reality of what’s inside your products.

    Clever Branding

When you are designing your product’s packaging, try to implement graphic art and branding to distinguish your products from your competitor’s. It’s very common for businesses in the food and beverage industry to include graphic art on their products. If you don’t want to include graphic art on yours, then an alternative to design a logo that’s instantly identifiable and very unique. You can then include this logo on all of your products The logo could even just be your company’s name in a stylized font.

    Unique Design

Instead of giving your products normal, traditional packaging designs, why not go for something that’s a little more unique? There are lots of alternative ways that you can package a product. Instead of using bottles, why not use jars? Things like this make your company instantly recognisable and endear you to customers. You should also offer customers products inside quality-made vessels. Instead of using plastic, use glass. Rather than flimsy cardboard, use wood. An investment into your business’s packaging is an investment in its success.

    Fast Courier

If you are going to deal with customers privately and aren’t going to be distributing your products to different supermarkets and grocery stores, then you need to make sure that you hire a courier who’s fast and offers a reliable service. If you don’t invest in a high-quality courier, then you won’t be able to ensure that customers get their products when they are supposed to. Additionally, a low-quality courier could cause a lot of problems for your business by handling products poorly. Employee product handling isn’t the only thing that you need to think about.

How To Properly Package Food and Beverage Products

    Temperature Safe

Make sure that the product packaging that you choose is temperature safe. You need to take into consideration the climate that you live in and the conditions in which consumers are going to be using your products. If you do not offer products that are suitable for the temperature at which they are going to be used, then your products could deteriorate a lot faster. Fast deterioration is never a good thing. You also need to take safety into consideration. Make sure that your products are packaged safely and don’t pose a risk to users.

    Sustainable Packing

Lastly, try to invest in packaging that’s sustainable and environmentally friendly. A lot of people are starting to become concerned with the environment. Products that aren’t packaged in an environmentally friendly way could alienate a large percentage of your target audience. Sustainable packaging isn’t a hard thing to offer, nor is it expensive. In fact, sustainable packaging can actually be cheaper in some cases. You should publish information about your brand’s commitment to sustainable packaging on your website so that you can advertise your sustainability. You should also include a mission statement that explains how seriously you take the commitment to sustainability. If possible, make your products eco-friendly too (such as only selling organic products).

If you own a business that sells food and drinks, then you need to package your products the right way. If you don’t then your products won’t be appreciated (or even purchased) by consumers. This post’s guidance will help you to deliver high-quality packaging.
