HARIBO UK today (June 25) officially opened our new purpose-built warehouse in West Yorkshire, marking a significant milestone in the business’s continued investment in the region.
The £35 million investment includes a new warehouse facility and an additional production and packaging line at the site in Castleford, helping strengthen the future of manufacturing in Yorkshire while bringing even more of our much-loved treats to HARIBO fans across the UK.
The new warehouse, delivered in partnership with Yorkshire-based Caddick Construction and built using a local supply chain, will allow Haribo UK to manage future product volumes, stock additional raw materials and packaging, and further modernise operations at its Castleford site with state-of-the-art technology.
The new facilities will support HARIBO UK’s operations in both Castleford and Pontefract, where it employs more than 700 people, further strengthening our long-term commitment to West Yorkshire.
The opening comes on the back of another strong year of performance with four of the top ten bestselling products in the category being HARIBO or MAOAM lines, maintaining Haribo UK's position as the UK’s leading sweets manufacturer.
The business also continues to support local communities in the region. Earlier this month, HARIBO marked an important milestone in its 18-year partnership with Martin House Children’s Hospice, at the official opening of THE BUILD.
During an 18-month campaign running throughout 2024 and 2025, Haribo UK supported Martin House to reach their £2m campaign target and secure the required funding for THE BUILD, which created a purpose-built space with new and improved facilities for the children and young adults benefiting from Martin House's services.
Haribo UK will also be returning as headline sponsor of the Pontefract Liquorice Festival this year, bringing the residents together to celebrate its proud heritage and its region. The event, taking place on 12th July 2026, will see thousands of locals and Liquorice fans from further afield fill the streets to celebrate the region’s proud sweet-making tradition.
Phil Murphy, Chief Marketing Officer, HARIBO UK & Ireland said: “We've been part of West Yorkshire for more than 50 years and we're very proud to call it home.
"The region plays a hugely important role in HARIBO’s success across the UK, from the products we make here through to the people, skills and manufacturing expertise that support our operations every day. Being the UK’s leading sweets manufacturer is something we are incredibly proud of, and this investment reflects the important role West Yorkshire continues to play in that success.”
Yvette Cooper, MP for Pontefract, Castleford and Knottingley said: "It was great to cut the ribbon at the opening of the new warehouse at HARIBO’s Castleford site. I’m really pleased that the new warehouse will allow them to expand and continue to support 700 jobs across our area."
"HARIBO are a brilliant manufacturer who have been at the heart of our towns for decades, carrying on our sweet making tradition."
Steve Ford, Regional Managing Director, Caddick Construction North East & Yorkshire, commented: “It has been a privilege to work with HARIBO on this impressive expansion project, which has been especially significant with HARIBO making such a huge contribution to employment locally to our Wakefield Head Office.
"Together with our local supply chain partners, our team worked hard to deliver the new warehouse to a world-class standard to support HARIBO’s high-calibre production. We’re proud to have played our part in this project, creating a facility that will have a lasting impact on Yorkshire’s manufacturing sector and the wider community.”
