A convenience store and post office in Gellideg, on the outskirts of Merthyr Tydfil, has been sold for the second time in six months.

Gellideg Post Office & Stores, situated on a busy parade, was purchased by Nitharshanan Jeyaratnam, a first time buyer from London, earlier this year and has been run successfully since then. Jeyaratnam brought the store to the market again as he needed to relocate.

The store has been taken over by Viram Goraniya, an experienced retailer with multiple stores across South Wales.

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co facilitated the sale at both instances.

“This is the second time we’ve successfully sold the store in six months, with both sales completing at asking price or above,” Jamie Williams, from Christie & Co, commented. “The store proved popular again when it became available earlier this year and a deal was agreed off market, with the whole process completing in under four months – a satisfactory result for all parties.”

Viram Goraniya, the new owner, added: “Christie & Co were fantastic in helping to complete the deal so quickly and I wish Jey all the best with his relocation. We are excited to continue our growth and look forward to servicing the local community of Merthyr Tydfil.”
