Former Reckitt executive joins as  Komerz at top post

Komerz, the distributor specialising in omni-channel commerce solutions, today (Sept 5) announced the appointment of Chit Ratnayake as its Global Chief Ecommerce Officer.

The appointment brings significant firepower to the company's ecommerce capabilities, with Chit joining both as an executive leader and investor following his successful track record scaling direct-to-consumer businesses across multiple Fortune 500 companies.

Chit brings over 15 years of experience in high-growth ecommerce and D2C businesses, most recently as Global GM D2C Ecommerce at Reckitt, where he owned the P&L for all direct-to-consumer operations spanning five continents.

During his tenure, he exceeded growth targets by 50 per cent year-on-year and launched brands like Durex into multiple EU countries and India, applying learnings from D2C data to scale across larger ecommerce marketplaces.

His appointment signals Komerz's ambition to accelerate its global ecommerce expansion at a time when traditional supply chain models are under pressure. The move comes as challenger brands increasingly seek integrated solutions that can catapult them to global markets within weeks rather than months or years.

"I am excited to be part of a new marketing, sales and distribution model that has the capability to build and push brands out globally. A one-stop shop across every channel, online and offline. It's something that most brands only dream about and we have the potential to hyper scale it quickly," said Chit.

His strategic focus at Komerz will be on building operational scale to help brands grow rapidly, opening new online channels globally spanning direct-to-consumer, marketplaces, social commerce and quick commerce. The appointment reflects the company's commitment to creating what Chit describes as "booster rockets" for challenger brands across ecommerce channels.

Chit's unconventional career path began at Goldman Sachs International after completing his Masters in Engineering at University College London. His curiosity about building businesses led him into private equity, where he was responsible for taking technology businesses from planning to investment and IPO.

"The days of fragmented supply of goods to achieve global reach is starting to diminish and Komerz is leading that movement," said Chit. "As we piece together all parts of the supply chains, marketing, platforms and processes we are building a fully integrated global model. A brand can come to Komerz and be catapulted to all countries and all channels in weeks instead of waiting months or years."

His role will focus on increasing revenue and sales for brands across new channels and markets, creating better consumer experiences and omni-channel strategies. The appointment comes as Komerz positions itself as an alternative to traditional

distribution partnerships, offering a profit-sharing model that enables challenger brands to scale internationally without conventional overhead or risk.
