Plans have been lodged with Mid Ulster District Council’s planners to extend a Coagh convenience store and equip it with an off sales and hot food counter.

Lodged by agent Paul McCollam on behalf of applicant P. Quinn Esq, the application seeks permission to change of use from a part tyre depot and above a ground tank storage area to amalgamate with an existing farm shop to give a modern convenience shop with off sales and hot food provision at 42 Littlebridge Road, Coagh.

According to the application from the 0.192 hectare site is currently in use as a Vivo convenience store and farm shop, garage, tyre and fuel sales facility and the proposal hopes to transform the site into a new modern convenience shop with off sales and hot food provision.

As it is a change of use application surface water and foul sewage will be disposed of via the existing mains connection. The floorspace of the site will remain at 331 sq.m. as a result of this application.

However, the 45.5m2 that is currently designated to storage will be designated as sales floorspace. This will take the total area dedicated to sales up to 311.5 sq.m from 266 sq.m.

At present three staff vehicles, 240 visitor/customer vehicles and two goods vehicles attend the site on a daily basis and this application is not expected to see these numbers increase.

As far as people attending the site on a daily basis, it is anticipated that this development will see an additional two staff members at the site on a daily basis, there are 10 at present. The number of other people who attend the site is not expected to change and will remain, according to the planning application form at 550.

Lodged and validated on Thursday, July 7 the application will be advertised until Tuesday, July 19 and Council has an internal target date to deal with the application of Thursday, October 20.
