Co-op Wholesale and experienced convenience store operator VST have signed a new five-year contract for 35 stores, which it officially marked with a grand opening of the debut store Loop Convenience Weymouth.
The extensive arrangement, which will see VST stores converting to Loop Convenience with Proud To Stock Co-op opening throughout the Southwest and along the South Coast, marks a significant milestone for both businesses, who are seeking ambitious growth in these regions.
The former Spar site – a 2,000 sqft unit based at 216 Preston Road – has undertaken a full internal refit while a new fascia will proudly display the Loop Convenience branding externally alongside Proud to Stock Co-op signage, signalling the presence of Co-op Brand goods in store.
Designed to suit the demands of the community it serves, the proposition has been strategically crafted. Food to Go lines including sandwiches, wraps and salads are on shelf while a Co-op Brand in-store bakery stocking popular classic and seasonal lines such as fresh bread, cookies and pastries will occupy a prominent position. The store will also pride itself on having full shelves of fresh and chilled food, treats and snacks, soft drinks, BWS and much more to meet the needs of its shoppers.
As a Proud to Stock Co-op shop, all VST Loop Convenience stores will benefit from access to the full Co-op Brand portfolio, currently boasting over 2,000 products, and all orderable via Co-op Wholesale’s OCS platform.
Co-op Wholesale's charity – Making A Difference Locally (MADL) provides a true USP. The charity donates funds to support local charities based directly on in-store spend. As part of the launch, MADL has donated £500 to a local cause chosen by VST, which is Margaret Green Animal Rescue centre.
