Citrefine is revolutionising insect repellent aerosol products with the launch of a new application type for its naturally sourced active ingredient, Citriodiol. The application uses an Eco-Valve by Salvalco, a new technology with patented Bubbly-Flow technology, that will enable insect repellent manufacturers to create aerosol products that are better for the environment.
In addition to introducing the application type to its family of ready-to-launch Citriodiol formulations, Citrefine is set to launch a new Mosi-Guard Lemon Eucalyptus Mist product, using the Eco-Valve by Salvalco, allowing consumers worldwide to apply insect repellents effectively via aerosol, but with a minimised negative human and environmental impact.
Unlike other aerosols, Citrefine’s new product does not contain any liquified propane gases (LPGs) and instead relies on compressed nitrogen, a gas already present in the air we breathe. Using nitrogen with the addition of the Eco-Valve, the spray repellent can be successfully applied from a can, with a softer and quieter action that is just as efficient in distributing the product as traditional aerosols.
Jacqueline Watson, Managing Director of Citrefine, says, “This new product is a welcome addition to Citrefine’s range of insect repellent products and our family of formulations, supporting our mission to help manufacturers create insect repellent products that are as sustainable as possible. With all the convenience and effectiveness of a traditional aerosol repellent, this is a fantastic option for both forward-looking manufacturers and consumers who want to protect both themselves and the planet.”
Currently Citrefine has a number of off-the-shelf formulations, using Citriodiol as the active substance, which are available in different application types, including sprays, bag on valve, roll-on, lotions and sprayable emulsions.
“Citriodiol is unique in the level and breadth of accreditation it receives from leading authorities, which recognise its first-rate efficacy as an insect repellent. Over the past 25 years, we have invested heavily to ensure the different formulations of Citriodiol meet the extremely stringent regulatory requirements all around the world and we are now able to pass the benefit of this investment on to our customers, offering a range of formulations in various application types.
“The new aerosol application type will soon be an important part of our product range and will make it easier and quicker for manufacturers of insect repellents to launch new products to market, in as sustainable a way as possible,” Watson comments.
