News UK appoints Tracey Hart as director of retail and wholesale

    Tracey Hart

Following the Competition and Markets Authority’s approval of the proposed combination of News UK and DMG’s printing operations, Tracey Hart has been appointed to the newly created role of director of retail and wholesale for News UK.

Hart will report to News UK’s executive vice president and chief operating officer David Dinsmore, and will support News UK’s printing operations as they transition into a new company created to run the combined print and primary distribution operations of both media companies.

Previously, Hart has held roles at Polaroid UK and DMGT, and has worked at News UK for almost 10 years.

Primarily focusing on the retail network, Hart has the mandate to engage with the retail industry positively to help support the preservation of print media, whilst navigating industry challenges. News UK said the new role will drive industry initiatives to deliver longevity for newspapers and the supply chain as well as continuing to manage its Direct To Consumer contracts and oversee the Retail Demand Planning.

“I’m thrilled to step into this new role as director of retail and wholesale. Having worked in the retail industry for over 18 years, I’ve seen the sector shift and evolve but we do have some new challenges ahead and I look forward to driving our retail strategy,” Hart said.

“Our new joint venture alongside DMG is a testament to the exciting future of the industry, and I am pleased to work with retailers across the country as News UK embarks on the next step of its retail journey.”

Dinsmore commented: “I am looking forward to supporting and collaborating with Tracey in her new role. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Tracey is perfectly placed to lead News UK’s retail strategy.”

Hart will officially assume her new role in June, and will support the merger in the interim.
