A Bromsgrove shop can no longer sell alcohol after its licence was revoked when it was found to be selling restricted products to underage customers.

According to local reports, UK Mini Market on Worcester Road had its alcohol licence revoked due to illicit sales and failure to comply with the conditions of the licence.

Worcestershire Trading Standards Team uncovered, along with illegal tobacco and cigarettes, that the shop was selling age-restricted products to those under age, reports said.

After a meeting to review the licence, it was concluded that the business would have its alcohol licence revoked as the premises had failed to promote the licensing objectives of both crime and disorder and the protection of children from harm.

At the meeting, evidence reportedly was presented from Worcestershire County Council’s Trading Standards Team and the technical licensing officer.

Licensing and support services manager from Worcestershire Regulatory Services thanked officers and the Trading Standards team for their swift action.

“We will continue to work with and advise licensed businesses to ensure they are operating safely and avoiding the future risk of illicit or underage sales,” the officer said.

The owners can appeal up to 21 days from receipt of the decision. At this time, they are still entitled to sell alcohol under their license until the court makes a final decision, reports said.
