Brew City offers tasting job for a Gary

Brew City, the beer snack for bevvies with mates, has launched search for a new ‘Chief Snacking Officer’, but there is one catch…applicants must be called Gary.

After attempting to lure ‘that famous Leicester-born Gary away from the red, blue and green crisps’ he has become synonymous with, Brew City is now searching for its own ‘King of Snacks’.

The role will see one successful candidate receive £30,000 in exchange for becoming the official taste tester for Brew City products. They will also get to eat Brew City’s existing delicious cheesy snacks all year round and be sent on a ‘market research trip’ with their mates to the world-famous brew city of Boston for on-the-ground beer and snack sampling.

“We did our best to steal crisp fan Gary from Leicester, as we thought it was about time he backed a proper snack like ours. We always knew it would be a long shot and in the end he couldn’t be torn from the ready salted packets he’s eaten since the early 90s. Now, Brew City are on the hunt to find a rival Gary to crown the ‘King of Snacks’ and help celebrate a new, more exciting, era of snacking,” Becky Slater, Brew City product manager, said.

“We believe our superior hot bites deserve a Chief Snacking Officer who can dedicate some serious time to enjoying them, in exchange for a whopping £30,000. Who wouldn’t want to get paid to eat a years supply of cheese!? It might even be worth changing your name to Gary!”

The brand has enlisted the help of YouTuber JaackMaate and food influencers What Willy Cook and Kate Ovens as the ultimate panel of expert judges to whittle down the prospective candidates.

So, if you’re called Gary, live in the UK, love beer, are a cheese fanatic and most importantly can spot a superior snack when you see one, then here’s what you need to do to apply. Simply head over to Brew City’s Instagram page, hit the follow button, like the post here and comment beneath to share what your first act as CSO would be and why.

JaackMaate said: “As a big Brew City fan, I had to get involved in this campaign. It’s obviously the perfect food job and if I was called Gary myself, I’d definitely be applying! Alas, being called Jack means I can’t, so I jumped at the chance to step up as head judge and help them track down the perfect Gary to become their Chief Snacking Officer. I want to see Garys up and down the country declare their love for snacks and beer, by sharing the best applications they can! Gary’s are often said to be the life and soul of the party… (although it is mainly Gary claiming that). So, let’s see it!”

Applications for the CSO opened on Brew City’s Instagram on 29 April and will close on 13 May.
