Booker boss Charles Wilson hosts first event as GroceryAid president

Booker chief executive Charles Wilson, new president of GroceryAid, hosted a dinner in Scotland in his first engagement at the helm of the industry charity.

Wilson assumed his new role in January, taking over from Morrisons chairman Andrew Higginson.

Over 20 Scottish industry leaders attended the invitation-only dinner at The Corinthian Club in Glasgow on 11 February.

Commenting on the night, Wilson said: “GroceryAid is supporting thousands of people from across our trade. The team in Scotland are doing a fantastic job and the evening helped build awareness and provided great support for GroceryAid.”

Peter Steel and Jim Harper, co-chairs of GroceryAid’s Scotland Branch, joined Wilson in hosting the event.

“Too many colleagues working in the trade in Scotland – across manufacturing, distribution, wholesale and retail (multiple, co-op and independent) don’t know about the wide range of support they can access through GroceryAid,” Steel said.

“This evening allowed us to engage leaders in the Scottish trade in helping to spread the word.”
