A popular convenience store near the busy tourist spot of Babbacombe beach in Devon has changed hands, with experienced local operators set to build on its success.

Best One Babbacombe, located just a short walk from the English Riviera coastline, has been taken over by a pair of retailers who already manage a portfolio of convenience stores and petrol stations in the region. The new owners plan to expand the store’s product range and introduce fresh lines to better serve both holidaymakers and the local community.

The outgoing owner, Chris Snell, said the decision to sell was driven by the growing demands of his other businesses.

“It has been a pleasure running the store however time demands from our other businesses mean we have had to pass the reins onto someone new,” he said. “We would like to thank all our loyal customers over the past few years, who, I know, will be happy with the new owners.”

The new operators praised the foundations laid by Snell and said they are excited to take the store to the next level.

“We are very much looking forward to taking the store on to the next level. It has been well-established by the previous owners, but equally there is great potential for expansion and new product lines, which we know will appeal to local customers,” they said.

The leasehold sale was handled by business property adviser Christie & Co for an undisclosed sum.

The Babbacombe outlet has built a steady customer base thanks to its mix of everyday essentials and food-to-go options, catering to both local footfall and tourist traffic during peak seasons.
