Nathalie Fullerton, owner of One Stop Partick on Dumbarton Road in Glasgow, has been crowned Businesswoman of the Year at the Asian Trader Awards 2026, recognising her transformation of a struggling convenience store and her growing contribution to the wider independent retail sector. The awards were held in London on Wednesday (Nov 4).

When Fullerton took over the business, weekly sales were around £6,000. She saw an opportunity to build a modern, community-focused store and, following a complete transformation.

The store has expanded from around 2,000 to more than 3,500 product lines, improved its layout and customer journey, introduced local products and invested in AI-powered technology to support customer safety and operational efficiency. Fullerton is also planning to develop an in-store food-to-go offer.

Her work extends beyond the business. Fullerton serves as National Deputy Vice President of the Federation of Independent Retailers and is a co-founder of Retail Family, a retailer-led mental health initiative designed to give people across the industry a safe space to discuss wellbeing and access support.

She says the experience of running a convenience store has taught her that success depends on continually evolving, listening to customers and being prepared to challenge established ways of working. She has also focused on building a positive team culture, with the belief that valued colleagues deliver better service and help create loyal customers.

The award recognises both her commercial progress and her commitment to supporting independent retailers and the communities they serve.

Asian Trader Awards 2026, held at Westminster Park Plaza Hotel in London, recognised the achievements of independent retailers and businesses from across the country, shining a spotlight on the innovation, enterprise, resilience and community spirit that continue to define the sector.

The evening was hosted by actor Nitin Chandra Ganatra. Minister for Artificial Intelligence The Rt Hon Kanishka Narayan MP graced the occasion as the chief guest.
