National Lottery operator Allwyn has delivered an early Christmas gift to 20 independent retailers, awarding a total of £127,000 in prizes through the latest round of its "Share the Win" initiative.

Launched last year, the scheme is designed to multiply the joy of winning on The National Lottery by sharing it with the retailers who make those winning moments possible. It rewards retailers who sell high-tier winning tickets or Scratchcards worth £50,000 or more – provided the lucky player agrees to publicity.

The three "Share the Win" prize tiers for retailers are:

  • Gold tier - wins of £1m or more will net lucky retailers the top prize of £10,000
  • Silver tier - wins of between £250,000 up to £1m will be worth £5,000 to shop owners
  • Bronze tier - wins of between £50,000 up to £250,000 will see retailers pocket £2,000

In this latest wave, nine retailers hit Gold, including:

  • The Paper Shop in Prestatyn, which sold a Black Pearl Deluxe Scratchcard worth £2m. Store owner John Evans said: “I’m absolutely delighted with my win. We’re a seasonal business, so it’s more than welcome and will really help us out.”
  • Londis Cheam in Sutton, which sold a Lotto Match 5 plus Bonus Ball ticket worth £1m. Owner Ushma Amin said, “I’m ecstatic with our win! It’s brilliant! I can give my family a nice holiday. We’re going to take a family trip for my husband's 65th birthday.”
  • Premier Reepham Road in Norwich, which sold a Millionaire Maker Scratchcard worth £1m. Owner Bipin Gurjar said, “It’s honestly unbelievable that we’ve won. It means so much to my family and my staff, who I’m going to treat with the money. Wins like this for our store, and for the gentleman who won £1m, spread a lot of happiness. Our customers say we’re the 'lucky shop' now.”

Other Gold £10k winners include Yathu Food and Wine (London) Whiskey Mart (Northolt), Premier Crofters Store (Montrose), City News (Bristol), Premier St Helens, and Key Vapours (Merthyr Tydfil).

Five retailers won the £5k Silver tier prize, including Lakes Parade Stores in Barrow in Furness, which sold a EuroMillions Match 5 plus a Lucky Star ticket worth £524,043.10 to store regulars Abbey Louise and Valdet Bujupi.

“I was really pleased when I found out I’d won £5,000 from Allwyn," said Lakes Parade Stores owner, Daniel Cooper. "It will go towards treating the staff for all their hard work over the year. We’re all really happy. However, we're even happier for Abbey and Valdet. As a community shop, it's nice to have some good news in our local area.”

Abbey Louise and Valdet Bujupi, said: "We're regulars in the shop, always popping in for bits and pieces, and a friendly chat with Daniel. When I went to buy some sweets for our daughter, I couldn't have imagined that split-second decision would change our family's future for the better, we still can't believe it. To know that Daniel, and our lovely local shop, will also receive a prize and enjoy that winning feeling definitely makes our win just that bit sweeter."

Greens of Fraserburgh, Kitsons News (Brighouse, West Yorkshire), and Family Shopper Kumar Stores (Bridgend), also celebrated £5,000 prizes, while six Bronze tier winners such as Milus (West Bromwich), Lewisham Express Food and Wine and Glens Convenience Store (Dundee) took home £2,000.

“Congratulations to all our incredible ‘Share the Win’ winners!" said Alison Acquaye-Acford, Allwyn’s Retail Revenue & Customer Director. "This initiative is all about recognising the vital role retailers play in creating life-changing moments for players. By rewarding retailers alongside their lucky customers, we’re bringing a fresh dimension to selling National Lottery tickets and multiplying that winning feeling – helping spread positivity in communities across the UK, while continuing to raise around £32 million every week for Good Causes.”
