Aldi is set to open 16 new stores across the UK over the coming months as it continues to expand its estate as part of a £370 million investment programme this year.
The discounter, which now operates more than 1,080 stores nationwide, said the latest openings will help support its long-term ambition to reach 1,500 UK stores.
New locations are planned for areas including Hoxton, Watford, Orpington and Marble Arch in London, Hattersley and Wigan in Greater Manchester, and Balsall Common in the West Midlands.
The announcement follows the opening of Aldi's new Salford Quays store last month and forms part of the retailer's wider investment strategy for 2026.
In January, Aldi revealed plans to invest £370m this year as it accelerates its UK growth programme, with the discounter targeting the opening of around 40 new stores across Britain. The 16 locations announced this week represent the latest tranche of planned openings.
Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: "At Aldi, we're committed to making high-quality, affordable food accessible to everyone, which is why we continue to invest in expanding our store network across the UK.
"Our £370m investment in new stores this year will help us bring Aldi's unbeatable value to even more communities, supporting local economies through our industry-leading pay for colleagues."
The retailer said its expansion programme will also create new employment opportunities. Earlier this year, Aldi invested £42m in colleague pay, increasing starting rates for store assistants to £13.50 per hour nationally, rising to £14.47 based on length of service. Within the M25, pay starts at £14.88 per hour and increases to £15.20 with service.
Stores scheduled to open in the coming months include Hattersley, Newport (Isle of Wight), Bishops Cleeve, Newport (South Wales), Orpington, Hoxton, Ashford, Watford, Rayleigh, Balsall Common, Marble Arch, Malton, Port Talbot, Sutton Coldfield, Wigan and Sudbury.
