New role at Greens Retail for ‘Oracle’ Kevin Polley

    Kevin Polley

In yet another newly created role, Greens Retail are delighted to announce the appointment of Kevin Polley as Fresh Foods & FTG Development Manager.

He joins Scotland’s leading convenience store chain bringing a wealth of experience, having served as Fresh Food Development Manager at Nisa for 15 years as well as prior experience at McColls’s and Sainsburys.

“I am delighted to have secured my former colleague Kevin Polley, as part of our ongoing talent acquisition strategy,” said David Bateman, Head of Retail at Greens. “Kevin is often described as a ‘walking PLOF’ and the ‘Oracle of Chill and Fresh’ by many whom know him in the sector.

“Kevin’s knowledge will assist in placing Greens at the pinnacle in respect of our offering within two of the highest growth areas in our sector – Fresh Foods and Food to Go. Specifically, Kevin will deliver standardisation across the estate, implement further processes and ultimately deliver a controlled, albeit tailored range thereby reducing waste and improving profitability as part of planned expansion over the next 18 – 24 months.”

Polley commented: “I am ecstatic to be joining Greens Retail. David & the Directors moved swiftly to secure my services, upon news of my role becoming redundant at Nisa, giving my family and I peace of mind at what was a difficult time.

I have known the Greens management team for many years and am very excited to be joining the team and adding further value to this already incredible business. Greens Retail are investing in a long term vision to create a customer-led chain of convenience stores becoming a destination for fresh foods and food to go amongst other categories. I am privileged to have this opportunity to work with a family-owned business excelling in the convenience sector alongside a management team I have known for many years.”

Polley lives in Stockton on Tees and is married to wife Ann with two adult children and three grandchildren. When asked about hobbies, he smiled and stated “I’ve only one … Real Ale.”
