    Cornitos shakes up Free-From market

Cornitos, the premium natural nacho chips brand, has seen sales soar since being named a quadruple winner in last month’s long-established Free From Food Awards.

In the Free From Food Awards, the UK’s only awards dedicated to free from food and drink, Cornitos received the Gold Award in the overall Vegan category with its new Cornitos Spicy Tikka Masala flavour that was launched earlier this year.

Mild Thai Sweet Chilli followed up last year’s win in the Savoury Snacks category in the prestigious Quality Food Awards with a Silver Award in the Almost Totally Free From category at the Free From Food Awards.

There were also two Bronze Awards for Cornitos: Hot Peri Peri in the Snacks category and Spicy Tikka Masala in the Best Pack Labelling category.

Cornitos was introduced to the UK market last summer. Each of the five flavours – the others are Cool Lime & Mint and Smokey Barbeque – is gluten free, vegan, non-GMO, cholesterol free, and with no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives.

“The brand has a real point of difference because these snacks contain only natural ingredients and are free from all of the 14 main recognised allergens, such as dairy and wheat,” said Fraser Heenan, chief executive and co-founder of Glasgow-based Blaze XK, the company that brought Cornitos to the UK from India.

“There’s growing interest in the better-for-you snack market so being recognised in the Free From Food Awards will help us drive the category and attract those consumers who want exciting products that are all-natural and full of flavour.

All five Cornitos flavours are available from leading convenience trade wholesalers and nationwide specialist food suppliers including Suma Wholefoods, TheVeganKind and Nut Free Living.
