A shoplifter who threatened and assaulted shop staff in multiple incidents has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Danielle Summers, 27, targeted a store in Derby Road, Stapleford twice on 25 October. In the first incident, she threatened a staff with a knife when challenged after attempting to walk out of the store without paying for the goods.
Around an hour-and-a-half later, she returned to the store and filled a basket with alcohol and food. This time she shoved another member of staff before leaving.
Earlier in July, she has done a similar offence at a shop in Ulldale Court, Chilwell. In addition to stealing items from the store, she returned later and slapped the shopkeeper who tried to intervene.
“Summers is a violent shoplifter who seemed to believe she had the right to take whatever she wanted from local businesses,” commented PC Luke Barrow, of Nottinghamshire Police.
“To make matters worse she became violent and confrontational when challenged about her behaviour. This sentence reflects the seriousness of her offending and I hope provides some comfort to her victims.”
Nottingham Crown Court last week sentenced Summers, of no fixed abode, to a total of 36 months in prison for offences including robbery and possession of a knife, theft and assault.
