    National Doughnut Week cancelled

This year’s edition of National Doughnut Week has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The event, sponsored by CSM Bakery Solutions, was scheduled to be held on 9-16 May 2020.

“We have taken the disappointing decision to cancel NDW 2020. We will of course feedback directly to everyone that has already signed up and we will announce the 2021 dates as soon as we can,” said Christopher Freeman, founder of the event.

“We thank all our supporters and hope their businesses are finding ways to navigate their way through this difficult time.”

The Children’s Trust, the charity partner of the event, said it faces one of its toughest challenges in its 36-year history as many of its major fundraising events now stand cancelled.

“Due to the cancellation of many of our fundraising events, and the closure of our charity shops, we’re set to lose hundreds of thousands of pounds in the next few months alone,” said Katie Roberts, head of voluntary fundraising at the Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury.

“To keep vital services running we need to raise £7 million a year and we’ve launched a special appeal to try and recoup the loss so that we can continue to support vulnerable children and families from across the country.”

National Doughnut Week raises money for the Children’s Trust by donating money for every doughnut sold during the week by the registered partners.

Since launching in 1991, National Doughnut Week has raised a total of £939,724 for charitable causes, including £392,655 for the Children’s Trust.
