Pork Farms enters meat snacking category with four new products

Leading pork pie brand Pork Farms has entered the meat snacking category for the first time with four new products.

Pork Farms’ Pork Meatballs, Maple Bacon, Frankfurters and Bratwurst have launched into major retailers and C&I this month, offering consumers a range of ready to eat snacks that can also be eaten hot as part of a variety of meal occasions.

With the meat snacking category growing by 10 per cent YoY and now worth £384m annually [IRI, 52w/e 24.12.23], Pork Farms said it has identified an opportunity to evolve its brand and use its 93 years of expertise in pork to attract a younger audience of shoppers who are looking for high protein meat snacking options.

It comes as part of Pork Farms’ wider ambition to become the leader in pork protein, with more NPD to come as the brand looks to add more excitement and diversity to the meat snacking category.

The products launching this month include:

    • Pork Farms Maple Bacon (50g £2.50 RRP) is available across C&I and has been designed to offer an alternative to the existing smoked cooked bacon products on the market. Sweetened with maple syrup, the product can be eaten cold or heated up to activate extra flavour and can be used to add an injection of taste and texture to pastas, salads and sandwiches.
    • Pork Farms Frankfurters (350g, £2.50 RRP) have launched in Tesco Ireland and C&I in the UK. Cooked and smoked, they are perfect for grilling on the BBQ and making hot dogs or are ready to eat as a protein packed snack.
    • Pork Farms Pork Meatballs (300g, £2.50 RRP) are available in Co-op stores nationwide. The meatballs are lightly seasoned and can be eaten hot or cold, making them a versatile addition to sandwiches and pastas as well as a delicious snack to eat on the go.
    • Pork Farms Bratwurst (540g £3.50 RRP) have launched into Tesco this month. Seasoned with a variety of herb and spices, the bratwurst are best served hot and are the perfect base for a hot dog piled high with onions and pickles.

Nick Partridge, marketing manager at Pork Farms, which is part of The Compleat Food Group, said: “At Pork Farms we have a long history in creating the highest quality pork pies, which has helped the brand grow by 45 per cent in the past year alone and cemented our position as the UK’s number one brand in pork pies. We are now using our significant expertise to move beyond creating the tastiest pork pies to deliver the best in pork meat snacking, to attract a new, younger audience and draw more shoppers to the fixture.

“Meat snacking offers significant opportunities for innovation, and our four new products are bringing exciting new flavours and formats to the category. It is just the start of an exciting pipeline of NPD for Pork Farms in 2024 as we seek to shake up and drive growth in the category.”
