Walkers Sensations Roasted Chicken & Thyme crisps in new 40g single and 65g PMP formats

This summer, Walkers is making its much-loved Sensations Roasted Chicken & Thyme flavour crisps available to more consumers, for more occasions, by rolling out two convenient new formats. Worth £17.5 million RSV and Sensations’ second-biggest flavour, Roasted Chicken & Thyme will now be available in a 40g single pack and a 65g Price-Marked Pack (PMP), allowing retailers to cater to both on-the-go and value-seeking purchase occasions.

PMPs continue to resonate strongly with consumers by delivering clear value and giving retailers the opportunity to offer an attractive, accessible price point for their customers. PepsiCo identified PMPs as a key opportunity to help retailers tap into a wider range of snacking occasions and boost sales in its recent Max Your Snacks category report, with value share of this format rising to 62 per cent (up from 61 per cent in 2023) in savoury snacks.


With on-the-go occasions on the rise, the 40g single packs will help retailers provide more choice for shoppers looking for snacks on the move, and present opportunities to drive linked purchases through lunchtime meal deals. The Singles segment is growing two per cent, highlighting the opportunity for retailers to capitalise on this trend.

The introduction of new pack formats coincides with the launch of a new recipe for Walkers Sensations Roasted Chicken & Thyme flavour crisps. The new recipe is now suitable for vegetarians and is also non-HFSS – this means the entire Walkers Sensations potato crisps range is compliant with HFSS regulations, ensuring retailers can display them in key areas throughout the store.

“We know how popular our Sensations Roasted Chicken & Thyme crisps are with shoppers, so we’re introducing single packs to cater to the rapidly growing on-the-go mission and offer value through PMPs,” said Wayne Newton, Senior Marketing Director, Walkers. “Plus, our new non-HFSS recipe keeps the same great taste shoppers love, while enabling retailers to stock the packs more widely across their stores.”

PepsiCo’s Max Your Snacks category guide, which includes tips to help convenience retailers optimise their savoury snacks range to drive further sales, suggests by supplementing the main display with secondary sitting throughout the store, retailers can tap into unplanned purchases which account for 60 per cent of sales. Launching across grocery, impulse and wholesale from 23 June, the 40g single pack is at RRP of £1.10 and the 65g PMP has an RRP of £1.35.
