A man wielding what’s believed to be an air-pistol has robbed cash and cigarettes from a petrol forecourt in Swindon.

The incident that occurred at the Esso petrol station on Kingshill Road on Easter Sunday has been “an extremely frightening experience” for the staff at the Spar store, Wiltshire Police said.

The man dressed in black entered the shop at around 10pm and threatened a member of staff with the pistol, before making off with an amount of cash and cigarettes.

“This was an extremely frightening experience for the member of staff. Fortunately they were unharmed but were very shaken by the incident,” Det Insp Chris Feerick said.

Officers have issued an appeal for witnesses, describing the suspect as approximately 5ft 6ins tall, of medium build with an English accent. He was wearing black jeans, a dark hoodie with the hood up, a face covering and glasses, gloves, black trainers with white soles and three white stripes on the side.

“We’d also like to speak to anyone living in the area who may have CCTV on their property or anyone driving through the area who may have dash cam footage of the incident or offender. Please contact us if that is you,” Feerick said.

Anyone with information may contact Wiltshire Police on 101 quoting crime reference number 54210031439 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
