SPAR launches new partnership with Deliveroo

SPAR UK has signed a new partnership deal with Deliveroo covering all 2,160 SPAR stores in England, Scotland and Wales. This new strategic partnership will provide shoppers with more choice and access to essential items from SPAR stores nationwide, delivered to their door by Deliveroo in as little as 20 minutes.

The partnership gives SPAR stores the opportunity to meet rising consumer demand for on-demand delivery with Deliveroo customers having access to around 2000 food and drink products from participating SPAR stores.

From today (22), 66 SPAR stores are available from Deliveroo, with the ambition to onboard as many independent and company owned stores as possible.

SPAR’s southwest regional wholesaler, Appleby Westward, has the roll-out underway and already has 50 stores available on Deliveroo, including SPAR Cobden Bridge Southampton, SPAR Bethal, St Austell, SPAR Bemerton Heath, Salisbury, SPAR Mina Road, Bristol and SPAR Falmouth.

SPAR UK Strategy and Operations Director, Lee Johnson said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Deliveroo.

“During the years of the pandemic, SPAR stores around the UK extended their service to communities by providing a variety of e-commerce delivery and call & collect solutions to local consumers. We are looking to accelerate this trend and cater to even more customers in the vicinity of SPAR stores by partnering with Deliveroo.

“Our partnership with Deliveroo will enable us to reach more customers, meet their ever-changing shopping habits and drive significant revenue uplift for stores. As our visibility on the Deliveroo platform grows, so will the opportunity for us to differentiate from our competitors,” he added.

Consumers can order groceries from their local SPAR store and have them delivered in as little as 20 minutes by Deliveroo. No longer solely reliant on footfall, this step forward will allow SPAR stores to extend their customer base, as well as compete in this fast-growing home delivery market.
