Southern Co-op stores raise over £105,000 for local causes last year

Southern Co-op said its stores have raised a total of over £105,000 in 2019 for local causes.

Colleagues held various fundraising events throughout the year to support 130 different local causes.

Each Southern Co-op convenience store partners with a local cause chosen by store colleagues every year.

“Each of our stores has a budget which they can donate to special projects but this total is separate. Every penny has been raised by colleagues and customers who want to help the store’s current charity partner,” said Jessica Hughes, community investment manager at Southern Co-op.

The regional co-operative said its 136 stores are now in search of their next charity partner.

Local causes are invited to apply to become a charity partner in 2020-21 as part of Southern Co-op’s ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’ programme.
