Snappy Shopper, the leading home delivery app in the convenience channel, has teamed up with bakery wholesaler Bako Group.
Bako is a leading supplier of bakery products and ingredients supporting thousands of bakers nationwide. It provides a UK-wide service and product range that are highly valued by its customers.
The partnership with Snappy Shopper is underway and has baker partners on board. Snappy Shopper said offering home-delivery enables bakery retailers to grow their sales by winning new consumers beyond their traditional catchment and encouraging frequency from new and loyal.
Bakers are already winning with higher basket spends on Snappy Shopper. On average a consumer is purchasing six items, meaning a typical basket on Snappy Shopper is £20 compared to £6 in store, the company said.
Pie Bob’s, a family run business that provides pies and cakes to the local community, experienced immediate success with the partnership, delivering over £10,000 in its first four weeks. The bakery business was proactive in offering a free pie with every order over £10 in its first week, leading to an impressive boost in sales.
“We are really excited about our partnership with Bako as it helps local businesses to expand their current offering,” Mike Callachan, founder and chief executive of Snappy Shopper, said.
“By adding home-delivery to stores, bakers can distribute their product more widely within local communities to people who might struggle to visit in person. This partnership is another step forward for the Snappy Shopper marketplace as we continue to focus and build upon our convenience and high street retail footprint.”
David Armstrong, group commercial director at Bako, added: “At Bako we cater for all sizes of customer, from large pallet deliveries to products from the small and home baker. This is why teaming up with Snappy Shopper is so important as we can serve our ever-expanding customer base with the highest standard of products in a more convenient way for them. It’s a win-win.”
