Key Summary

  • Commission now ten per cent on average card value of £32
  • Digital gifts also earn commission for retailers across a broad range of brands
  • New display units available to encourage sales

PayPoint has announced that retailer partner commission on Love2shop gift card sales has doubled. Retailers can now earn 10 per cent on each physical gift card sold. With £32 being the average gift card value for consumers to purchase, this will earn retailers £3.20 on the sale.

The boost in commission comes at the same time as a newly designed gift card, to become more colourful and eye-catching, boosting both spontaneous and planned gifting purchases. It comes as PayPoint sees a surge in demand for gift card sales in the run up to key calendar moments, such as Thank You Teacher in July and the peak Christmas period from October.

PayPoint retailer partners can also earn one per cent commission on digital gift vouchers for a wide range of brands including: Amazon, Deliveroo, Google Play, PaysafeCard, Neosurf, Netflix, Nintendo, PlayStation, Roblox, Uber, Uber Eats and Xbox.

To maximise opportunities to earn for retailers, PayPoint is launching new display units for Love2shop gift cards which will help make the offering clear for customers, as well as support on staff training, signage, and optimising Point of Sale (PoS).

PayPoint recommends the following tips to support retailers and boost their opportunities to earn via gift cards and digital vouchers:

  • Display unit – ensure you have a clear area or stand to showcase the newly designed Love2shop gift cards and position this near relatable items in-store such as birthday cards, balloons and decorations.
  •
  • Signage – have clear and well-designed signs in-store advertising and informing customers of the gift cards and digital vouchers available, as well as signage in store windows to attract new customers passing by.
  •
  • Seasonal promotions – consider seasonal promotions or feature stands at key calendar moments, such as exam gift idea, Fathers Day gifting, birthday ideas.
  •
  • Conversation – talk to your customers! Ask who the birthday card is for and if they need a gift to accompany it, or if they are keen gamers ahead of new game releases which they might consider a digital voucher for

“We are always looking at ways to further support our retailer partner’s opportunities to earn, and drive footfall to grow profitability,” said Anthony Sappor, Retail Proposition and Partnerships Director at PayPoint. “We hope that the doubling of commission on Love2shop gift cards provides an extra boost and incentive to promote the gifting option to customers and reward retailers accordingly.

“We know that our retailer stores provide the perfect solution for many services including banking and parcel offerings, and now we can support them with the demand we’re seeing for more gift and special occasion services too.”
