Entrepreneurs Bisi and Olumayowa ‘Mayo’ Osundeko have opened their second store in Sutton in St Helens.

Building on the success of their first venture in 2021, a Go Local store in Sutton, the couple continues to bring quality service and community engagement to the Merseyside area.

Formerly a Bargain Booze, the new Rainford store on Church Road is part of The Local, Parfetts' off-licence-focused format, catering to the specific needs of the local community.

The Osundekos' decision to partner again with Parfetts demonstrates the couple’s confidence in the wholesaler's support and alignment with their business values and ambitions.

Working closely with Parfetts, Bisi and Mayo, undertook significant store improvements, including new chiller units and increased shelving space, doubling the stock range and adding much-needed community services including The National Lottery, Payzone and parcel points.

Bisi expressed her gratitude for the continued support from Parfetts, stating, "We are thrilled to open our second store in St Helens and continue our successful partnership with Parfetts.

"Their support and input have been invaluable in bringing our vision to life. The team's dedication and hands-on approach have made this expansion a seamless experience for us."

The couple's first store in Sutton has become more than just a place to shop; it's a community hub with initiatives that include regular donations to the Sexton Avenue food bank, an in-store book club to promote literacy, and partnerships with local schools to provide work experience opportunities for young adults with learning disabilities.

These efforts have not only supported the community but have also fostered a loyal customer base.

Guy Swindell, joint managing director at Parfetts, said, "Bisi and Mayo exemplify the kind of entrepreneurial spirit and community focus that Parfetts aims to support.

"Their success with their first store and now in Rainford is a testament to their hard work and the strength of our partnership. We look forward to continuing to support their growth and the positive impact they have on their communities.

“With the opening of their Rainford store, the Osundekos continue to demonstrate that independent retailers can thrive by combining quality service, community engagement, and strong partnerships.

"Their journey serves as an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs in the convenience retail sector.”

As an employee-owned business, Parfetts offers team members a direct stake in the company's success alongside excellent career development opportunities in wholesale and retail. The company's unique ownership structure ensures profits are reinvested to benefit employees and customers, creating a rewarding workplace culture.

Parfetts has seen significant growth in its symbol groups, including Go Local and The Local, by focusing on providing value and support to independent retailers. The company's commitment to retailer success is evident in its hands-on approach, from store development to ongoing operations.
