The owners of a beloved family-run village store in North Pembrokeshire are retiring, opening the door for a new chapter in its history.

For the first time in 50 years, Letterston Village Stores is up for sale, with business property adviser Christie & Co being instructed to market the local business.

The store has been family-run since it was built in 1974. Brother and sister duo Gerwyn Howells and Marilyn Griffiths have been running the store for the last 20 years and have now decided to step back and retire.

“I have really enjoyed running the store. Our customers are fantastic, and I have made many friends over the years,” Marilyn Griffiths commented. “It was a very hard decision to sell, but the time has come to think about the future and retirement plans.”

According to Christie & Co, the detached store offers a spacious sales area, with scope of expanding the business further by introducing new product lines. There is also a large three-bedroom apartment above the store, which could either serve as owners’ accommodation or be rented out for further income.

“We are delighted to have been instructed to sell this business by Marilyn and Gerwyn. It has been in the family for over 50 years and offers an exciting opportunity for either a first-time business owner or multi operator,” Matthew McFarlane, business agent at Christie & Co, said.

The store is on the market with freehold asking price of £465,000.
