Müller unveils development plans and100% recyclable Frijj packaging

Müller has announced plans to develop its branded milk drinks sector in the UK, alongside a new fully recyclable Frijj bottle.

Made from using advanced packaging technology, FRijj’s eco-friendly bottle design is now made from 51% recycled content and will go on sale in late July.


Frijj bottles and caps will also be 100% recyclable that will contain a long-lasting ambient recipe available across all channels that could be extended to nine months in the future.

Made from milk produced by British farms, Frijj will continue to focus on its most popular flavours, Strawberry, Banana, Chocolate, Fudge Brownie and Cookie Dough.

Jon Jenkins, chief executive of Müller Milk & Ingredients, said: “Our purpose is to add taste to life for consumers, and we’ll do this by leveraging all of the strength of Müller, the UK’s most chosen dairy brand, to grow our presence in a category which has managed to maintain positive value growth during a challenging period for on-the-go products.

“We’re seeing retailers unlocking more space in store for milk drinks, and with over half of the UK population yet to access and enjoy this category, there’s a real opportunity for growth."

Small businesses lag in offering apprenticeships

Small businesses are "18 times less likely" to offer an apprenticeship scheme as compared to large businesses, a recent report has claimed, adding that some small businesses are not taking proactive steps to recruit apprentices from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Co-op in a report released on Monday (10) points out how more than a third (38 per cent) of school leavers face a lack of apprenticeship opportunities in their local area.

Retail sales surge in January despite stormy weather

January sales kicked off a solid month for retail with stores delivering their strongest growth in almost two years, shows industry report released today (11).

According to retail body British Retail Consortium (BRC), UK total retail sales increased by 2.6 per cent year on year in January, against a growth of 1.2 per cent in January 2024. This was above the 3-month average growth of 1.1 per cent and above the 12-month average growth of 0.8 per cent.
