Frozen and ambient food maker Greencore has announced the appointment of Dalton Philips as its next Chief Executive Officer. He will be joining from September this year.

Philips was previously the CEO of Morrisons between 2010 and 2015.

He will be joining Greencore from Daa, a global airports and travel retail group, where he has been CEO since October 2017.

Prior to Morrisons, Philips had held senior roles with the George Weston Group, including as COO of Loblaw, a leading Canadian grocery retailer, and CEO of Brown Thomas Group, a luxury goods retailer in Ireland.

“I am hugely excited to be joining Greencore, which is a business I have long admired as an outstanding operator in the UK food manufacturing sector. I know from my time as a Greencore customer that this is a business with exceptional dynamism, adaptability and ambition, and one that is committed to the highest levels of product quality, customer service, and sustainability,” reports quoted Philips as saying.

“I am looking forward very much to joining their industry-leading team in September, and to helping to realise the significant future growth potential that I see for this business.”

Welcoming Philips, Gary Kennedy, Executive Chairman of Greencore, said that he is delighted to have someone of “Dalton’s calibre and experience to Greencore’s senior leadership team”.

“In addition to his outstanding knowledge of the grocery sector, he has a strong track record of leading dynamic consumer-related businesses,” Kennedy said.
