A 31-year-old man has been charged in relation to a series of thefts at shops across Clifton and Ruddington in Nottingham over a two month period.
The Clifton Police off road bike team arrested Aaron Kelly on Wednesday on Southchurch Drive Clifton.
“A number of shops in Clifton were being continually targeted and their co-operation has been invaluable in collecting the evidence,” Police Sergeant Nigel Bradley commented.
“Local officers have worked tirelessly from the first incident in September and continue to work closely with partners and residents to help us identify any people who are suspected of handling stolen goods.”
Gift sets, food, drinks and makeup were reportedly taken from a number of shops. In one incident, goods were smashed inside a shop.
Kelly, of no fixed address, has been charged with 22 shop thefts and one count of criminal damage.
He has been given a deferred sentence after appearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 26 November. His next court appearance will be on 21 February 2021.
“The Clifton Police team support local businesses and respond immediately when incidents are reported to ensure we maintain a good working relationship,” Bradley added.
“With your help, we will be able to ensure prolific shoplifters will be behind bars this coming festive season.”
