A shop worker in Leeds has been left with serious injuries after being attacked by machete-wielding masked robbers last night.
The incident happened at Halton’s Top Store on Selby Road, Halton at around 8.50pm on Monday (23 August) when two men wearing balaclavas entered the store and started taking items.
As the shop staff, a 26-year-old man, approached the pair, one of the suspects produced a machete and struck him on the back causing a slight injury. He was then attacked with the machete again and received a serious injury to his hand that requires surgery.
“The victim has received a significant injury during this incident and is continuing to receive treatment in hospital,” Detective Inspector Dan Bates, of Leeds District CID, said.
“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify those responsible and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the suspects running off from the scene.”
