Gun-wielding man rob Co-op store in Midsomer Norton

A woman store worker was threatened with a gun as a robber targeted the Co-op store in Fosseway, Midsomer Norton.

The offender entered the store at 9pm on Tuesday 21 July, with what’s described as a handgun, demanding the victim to hand over cash.

He fled the scene with an unspecified amount of money in a red Citroen SpaceTourer MPV.

The store worker then called the police who initiated a manhunt.

“We responded immediately, with patrolling officers supported by armed response teams and the National Police Air Service helicopter in a search of the area. There was no trace of the suspect vehicle and our enquiries continue,” Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement.

Officers have issued an appeal for witnesses, information and any dashcam or CCTV footage which could help the investigation.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 6ft tall, wearing a black mask, baseball cap and hoody with a hi-vis over the top.

Anyone with relevant information could call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5220162467, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
