The Guild of Fine Food has called on the consumers across the UK to get behind their local independents during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The Guild has also added resources, including a map showing the availability of stock, to its website to help local stores adapt to the situation.

“The challenges are everywhere, but it’s in all our interests to ensure that independent food retail is still here in a year’s time, so I’d encourage everyone to use the hashtag #supportlocal on social media to draw attention to the great things these businesses are doing,” said John Farrand, managing director.

“As this unprecedented situation continues to unfold and huge change is forced upon us, we all have the opportunity to make an impact on the communities around us and to help shape what happens next.”

The resources made available by the organization include tailored information, advice and tips for the fine food trade, as well as good news stories to help inspire others in the sector.

The colour-coded map contains information from producers, retailers and distributors who either have stock or need supplies. Retailers who are in need of stock can use this form to get featured on the map.
