A test purchase operation in North Ayrshire has seen a great majority of stores refusing to sell vapes and cigarettes to under-18s.

Out of the 23 premises inspected, only four stores failed to pass the inspection, with the rest 19 refusing sales, local reports said.

The stores that failed have received warnings, and will face repeat checks.

The joint operation by Police Scotland, North Ayrshire Council and Trading Standards Scotland has also led to the seizure of illicit vape and cigarette products.
