Epicurium has extended its availability of products within its crisp category with nine new additions, in response to shifting consumer trends that favour on-the-go snacking.

The wholesaler said the decision to expand the category comes on the back of months of industry research by its team that identified the growing importance of an extensive crisps range, and the desire of customers to opt for snacks that are both bolder and healthier.

On the back of this research, Epicurium has introduced nine new brands – Savoursmiths, Shore, Mr Trotter’s, Taste of Game, Fairfields Farm, Made for Drink, Howdah, Total XP, and Two Farmers – to its ever-growing list of popular suppliers.

The findings of the research identified four core opportunities within the crisp category for the snack industry: sustainable and independent brands, exotic and bolder flavours, innovative protein snacks, and healthier living, with the new additions allowing Epicurium to expand further into these areas.

“Consumer tastes and demands are changing rapidly, and it is important that retailers recognise this and have the knowledge and products that allow them to react,” Ben McKechnie, Epicurium’s managing director, commented.

“This refresh to our crisp category further aligns us with current consumer tastes with a range that ticks all the boxes, from healthy protein-based options to bolder and fuller flavours.”

The additions further enhance Epicurium’s already-established crisps range, which now offers over 200 lines from over 35 brands.
